Pioneer Logging

Owner and operator, Luke Allen has been logging for decades. Experience has taught him to view the forest as a large garden, one in which we are responsible to maintain by "Pulling the Weeds" and removing what would cause sickness, disease, and possibly even death. Luke views the forest as a sustainable resource and a valuable asset for us as all, as well as something to marvel at and appreciate by future generations to come.

Maintaining the health of the forest is our passion, while effectively harvesting the renewable resources with minimal impact is a key objective. Maintaining sustainable logging practices promotes healthy and managed forests. Sustainable practices also include managing qualities of forest resources such as water supplies, watersheds, as well as fish and wildlife habitats.

Healthy Forest Initiative

Pioneer Logging supports the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003. Its stated intent is to reduce the threat of destructive wildfires. The law seeks to accomplish this goal by allowing timber harvests on protected National Forest's land.

Supporters of the law contend that this will reduce wildfire risk by thinning overstocked stands, clearing away vegetation and trees to create shaded fuel breaks, providing funding and guidance to reduce or eliminate hazardous fuels in National Forests, improving forest fire fighting, and researching new methods to halt destructive insects.
